Queen of the Valley Medical Center Honors Assemplywoman Noreen Evans
Issue: June 2010
Queen of the Valley Medical Center (QVMC) has honored Assemblywoman Noreen Evans, 7th Assembly District, for her ongoing support of the hospital and the communities it serves. The ceremony took place April 30 during the hospital's monthly board meeting, when a plaque was presented to the Assemblywoman on behalf of St. Joseph Health System and QVMC.
“Assemblywoman Evans has been a very effective legislator for the 7th District and a good friend of Queen of the Valley Medical Center," said Dennis Sisto, President and CEO of the medical center. "As California has made many painful cuts to critical programs to deal with the ongoing budget crisis, we have been able to work with Assemblywoman Evans to minimize the impact of some of these cuts to the most vulnerable in our community.”
In 2009, as Chair of the Assembly Budget Committee, Assemblywoman Evans worked with QVMC and other area hospitals to stop various cuts to Medi-Cal reimbursement rates, which would have had a significant impact to the Medi-Cal program in Napa County. As a result of her work, the cuts were discontinued in 2009 and the funding was restored earlier this year.
