Addario Family Gives $500,000 for New Sequoia Hospital

Issue: September 2009

Bonnie and Tony Addario have pledged $500,000 to help build and equip Redwood City’s new Sequoia Hospital.  The Addario family has made their gift to The New Sequoia Hospital Campaign in support of Sequoia’s Imaging Center and in honor of oncologist Fred Marcus, M.D.

In 2004, Bonnie Addario was diagnosed with lung cancer. Through the efforts of Dr. Fred Marcus, Sequoia’s staff and a unique partnership between Sequoia Hospital and UCSF, Bonnie received the care she needed and today is living cancer free.  Together with her husband Tony, Bonnie has since founded the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation, whose mission is to eradicate Lung Cancer through research, screening, communication, education, prevention and treatment. The Addario's have also started a second foundation, ALCMI (Addario Lung Cancer Medical Institute), dedicated to catalyzing and accelerating the discovery, development and delivery of more effective treatment options for Lung Cancer patients.
