Dr. George Kent Recognized for Outstanding Contribution in Medical Education

George Kent, M.D., associate program director for the O’Connor Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, was recently honored by the Santa Clara County Medical Association (SCCMA) for going above what is expected in medical education activities.
Fore more than 20 years, Dr. Kent has taught the clinical skills and art of family medicine to more than 150 resident graduates of the Stanford-affiliated Family Medicine Residency Program, formerly located at San Jose Medical Center.“Dr. Kent is a beloved educator, direct but gentle, with a hands-on teaching style,” said Robert Norman, M.D., program director of the Family Medicine Residency Program. “He is forever an advocate for his patients, his residents and his students.”
After graduating Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Dr. Kent completed his residency in family medicine at the UCSF-affiliated Family Medicine Residency Program in Santa Rosa. He then served as a medical epidemiologist and medical intelligence officer with the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, concurrently completing an additional residency in preventive medicine. Dr. Kent is board certified in family medicine and is certified as an HIV specialist with the American Academy of HIV medicine.
