Climb4ACure Donates $10,000 to Help Fund Diabetes Outreach Program
Issue: July 2009
Climb4ACure announced that it has donated $10,000 to Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City. “This donation is one of three that marks Climb4ACure coming of age and reaching its goal of partnering with health care providers to directly benefit underprivileged diabetics. In this case we are supporting the Sequoia Hospital Diabetes Center’s outreach and education programs for the underserved in the community,” said Climb4ACure President Bryan Neider.
Headquartered in Menlo Park, Climb4ACure is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation founded in 2007 to raise funds to deliver supplies and treatment to underprivileged diabetics, to increase awareness that the underprivileged are disproportionately affected by the disease, and to increase awareness that physical fitness and proper diet are important in fighting the disease.
“The Diabetes Center is now able to extend their services to the community at large as well as Samaritan House Free Medical Clinic in Redwood City,” said Glenna Vaskelis, Sequoia Hospital President and CEO. “One-on-one nutrition counseling, diabetes awareness education and free blood glucose screening funded by Climb4ACure’s generous donation will be changing lives every day.”
